External Audit

Overview

NHS CPC recognises that there are no national frameworks available to Trusts for the provision of external audit services. This therefore means that Foundation Trusts have to run their own OJEU procurement processes to select their provider, which is time consuming and a duplication of efforts.

Government reforms have also resulted in the demise of the Audit Commission, who have advised that they will no longer be able to provide an audit service themselves beyond 2011/2012. FTs who have traditionally contracted with the Audit Commission as their audit services provider will now have to find an alternative provider for financial year 2012/13 and beyond.

In anticipation of these developments, NHS CPC has run a full OJEU process to establish a framework agreement with four leading auditing service providers which will provide numerous benefits and which can be accessed by NHS CPC members.
